Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
Temperatures are gradually rising across South Bengal, signalling a slow retreat of winter. Bright sunshine during the mornings and afternoons has reduced the chill, which is now largely limited to early morning and evening hours. The weather department has indicated that no major temperature change is expected in the region over the next few days.
In Kolkata, the minimum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 16.1 degrees Celsius, slightly higher than Monday’s 15.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum reached 26.6 degrees Celsius. Increased humidity may cause mild discomfort and sweating during the day. Fog intensity is also expected to decrease gradually across South Bengal districts.
In contrast, weather conditions remain favourable for winter activity in the hills of North Bengal. Due to the influence of two active western disturbances, there is a strong possibility of light snowfall in the higher reaches of Darjeeling by the end of the week. Light rain is also likely at isolated places in Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts.
According to forecasts, temperatures in the hill regions are expected to range between 3 and 5 degrees Celsius in the coming days. In the plains of North Bengal, minimum temperatures are likely to remain around 15 degrees Celsius, maintaining relatively stable winter conditions.
